Less equals more, maybe
« on: March 26, 2015, 04:02:55 PM »
Why are sellers wanting more for these stripped bikes than complete ones.
Seems like the more stuff you take off the higher the price.
This guy wants $3800 obo, guess power to if he gets it.
thanks, Mark

Tell me about it! This guy took a $1500 bike, cut and stripped as much as he could. Bought a cheap cafe seat and bars and now wants WHAT?!?!?!

I don't have a problem with someone bobbin, cafein' or ratting a bike if it already a gonner, but when I see a bike that is in reach of restoring I say go that route. When the bike gets cut, stretched, hacked, it's done, never to be what it once was.
Well I guess you know my pet peeve, that and people waiting 5 min to get a front row parking spot at the grocery store, when there's a spot 60ft away.
thanks, Mark

Compare it to this, gentlemen:

That guy that offered $3600 straight up and him turning the guy down is hilarious.

Good luck making a sweeping right turn, that pipe will turn into a cool, skid plate if you don't fall first.

Here's another tragic, Customer with a beautiful stock 1982 CBX, transformed to this. BTW the shop said they could have bought everything and made it and it would have been easier. The way it was they didn't even use the engine, they got another used motor and sold the original one that came on the bike. (orig is a file photo)

thanks, Mark

What the heck is that metal monstrosity sticking out the side of that once beautiful bike?  Is that the air intake?

This isn't anything new of course.  You wouldn't believe how many absolutely wonderful 1903's and Krags were hacked and butchered by people who wanted to 'sporterize' their rifles.

Yeah I see a lot of "custom' and "one of a kind" bikes for sale at a ridiculous amount. I guess the sellers think their hack job customization or blowtorch bobber is worth a lot of money. Don't get me wrong, there are some really cool, well done modified, cafe, street fighter and bobber bikes out there.  Then there are the butchered bikes that these morons are trying to pass of as something cool.  Sad what happens to nice things in the hands of idiots :-\
