heat tolerances of cylinder and head?

I'm painting my cylinder and head (which are disassembled) with vht. It says to cure it by baking at 250° for 30 minutes, then 400° for 30 minutes and finally at 600° for thirty minutes. Just wondering the heat tolerances of the cylinder and head before I cure them. Thanks in advance.

I have used VHT paint and don't remember it being a 3 step heat cure. I did mine at 250 for 30 minutes and that was it. Holds up well. Its all in the prep. I wonder if they have changed the directions?

Hmm I'm not sure. I did get them very clean before painting, but did not do a primer coat. Did you prime yours?

Yes I used the VHT primer and engine paint.

The only reason I didn't is because I did a little research and a lot of people said not to because it may cause the engine to run hotter or something like that

I just checked my VHT cans and they all say 200 for one hour.

I just baked my VHT at 200 for 1 hour. It says running it will cure the paint but not to expect chemical resistance until it's cured. Unless you plan on burning up valve seals there is nothing to be concerned with.

I used the VHT, and just let it cure with engine heat,  this worked well and appears to be chemical resistant.
