Clutch plate/disk placement on cb 500?
« on: March 29, 2015, 04:30:22 PM »
I have replacing the disks and plates on my cb500 and have seen somewhere on this forum that there is a specific orientation in the way the disks face. Ive searched but could not find answer. Anyone can chime in?

Are you referring to the steel plates or the friction plates? I think the steel plates generally have one side with a chamfered inner edge, and one flat edge - as far as I've been able to find, the square edge should be the motor side, and the chamfered edge, the outside. Make sure the steel plates are all orientated the same way.

Do the friction plates grooves have slanted or square cut faces? If they have square cut, won't matter which way they are stacked, if they are angled, stack them so that they throw oil outwards as they spin.

Here's a couple of links
