When Lorenzo first joined Yamaha as a factory rider he crashed quite often, broke stuff. Quickly he got very fast and stopped crashing, he was a contender. In an interview around that time he said the difference between himself and Rossi was slight, he was pretty much just as fast but Rossi had one attribute that he hadn't attained yet and that was absolute focus and concentration, that was the biggie.
