cb400f rim & tire size
« on: April 03, 2015, 10:43:12 AM »
Hey guys,

so I have a cb400f that needs new rims. I'm going to buy a set of Excel Takasago 18" x 2.15. I want to run 4.0 tires in the rear and 3.0 tires in the front. Will the 2.15 rim handle a 3.0 tire? What is the max/min the 2.15 rim will hold?

Thanks!
Chris

The 3" tire will be wider at the rim making the crown less and the 4" is the last size up you can go on the rear.

thank you Powderman. I saw a similar chart but wasn't sure how accurate it was.

I might go with a 3.50 on the front and 4.00 on the rear instead.

If you haven't bought the rims yet I would opt for a 2.5" rear rim. Too wide of a tire on a skinny rim makes it crown more leaving less tire patch for grip on the ground.

I already ordered two 2.15 x 18"  Excel Takasago Rims. I'm gonna go 4.0 in the rear and 3.5 in the front.

If you haven't bought the rims yet I would opt for a 2.5" rear rim.

+1.  Would look much better with a wider rim on the rear.  Getting stainless spokes?
