« on: April 06, 2015, 01:35:23 AM »
any one recognize this bike?
This has just turned up on our local auction site (Trade Me)
For $8K NZ, bargain for someone me thinks, I'll be watching this to see what it goes for in the end

I just asked the wife and it appears I am not allowed to buy it...  :( Teach me to ask first

Interesting.  Looks like a very original café bodywork conversion.  Not up on these things but it looks like a bunch of Dustsall parts.  I am curious as to where that riveted RC Engineering tab was located on the bike.  My first blush guess is that someone with a bunch of cash to burn had someone build them a flashy street racer, and used a full fiberglass bodywork kit (Dunstall?) and spent another $2000 on an RC Cobra motor.  Clearly he wasn't into having a sleeper drag racer with the custom painted cobra on the tank ;D.   Lots of flash and power there...

RC did sell turn key bikes at times, mostly drag bikes of course, but I recall there were a few café bikes in there.  I can find out...  Cool "period" find regardless.

Too bad it doesn't have the Cobra engine in it.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

I think your right George, Dunstall was my guess as well, maybe a Rickman fairing..?.... ;)

The one in the ad (1st photo) Sure looks like a mid 70s Dunstall tank and seat combo(second photo) with a Rickman 3/4 fairing(3rd photo) with the Rickman fairing mounted a few inched farther forward than was intended.

About the add... why call it cobra when the Cobra no longer is there?
Ported head, RC327, 72mm pistons, better rods, lightened alternator... or have I misunderstood anything?
