Shocks for big kids - CB1100F or CB900F ?
« on: April 13, 2015, 08:11:12 AM »
After riding to Austin this weekend to catch the Handbuild motorcycle show and MotoGP, I've decided I really, really want/need new rear shocks for my CB750.  It felt like I was riding an old Buick.  I'm 210lbs geared up.  I'd like something that looks vintage.   I would not mind if they were a tad longer that the originals as well.   Anybody running CB1100F or similar shocks ?     Goldwing shocks ?  Hagon ?
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

Longer is the way to go.
or stock DOHC length.

used CB900f/1100F shocks used to be the hot ticket as they were good and cheap.
But now at the price point of used shocks I would rather spend the money on a set of Hagons and be done.

cb900c did, talk here is about cb900f reservoir shocks...c and f bikes are very different, really only related by the same motor

incidentally, those 900f shocks still do exactly what the reservoir is supposed to prevent, heat the fluid and then they get mushier...so, you start out on a ride thinking "Wow, these are great!".  20 minutes of thrashing later they are nearly as crappy as stock cb750 units.
If it works good, it looks good...
