oil pressure switch
« on: April 09, 2015, 05:15:32 PM »
Ok I can't seem to find info on replacing this anywhere. ordered the replacement because it's leaking oil but...do I have to drain the oil to replace it or can I just be quick?

In an effort of thread conservation....anyone happen to know what could be causing my #1 spark plug to keep coming loose?

I already have the part. I just need to know if I'm going to have to drain $30 worth of oil two weeks after my last oil change to replace it.

Is the oil pressure switch in a different place on the 550 than it is on the 750?  On my 750, the oil pressure switch is to the right of the cam chain tensioner and starter cover.

While there's oil in that area, there shouldn't be a lot so you should be able to quickly remove the switch and put a new one in with a minimum of oil loss.

Now, if you're talking about the neutral switch that's on the bottom of the engine, you're going to see a lot of oil come out of there because whatever hasn't been returned to the oil tank via the scavenger line is going to be in the bottom sump of the engine and will want to leak out.

Just remove and replace, no spillage.
550= wet sump.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

I use a oil pressure switch from an Honda CBR 954...also it fits 929 and others.
Just replace it without oil change. Be careful with the torque for the thread!
