1967 CL90 - Tuning Help
« on: April 11, 2015, 12:10:56 PM »
So I started a restomod of a CL90 that I swapped in a YX140 (Piranha) with a VM26 carb.

Im trying to get the bike running right and there is some serious jetting issues.

My current setting:

P: 30
M: 165
AS: 2.5 - 3.5 out
N: middle

I have tried the following jetting and im running out of ideas on what direction to go.

1. Setting the VM26 with 2 - 2.5 turns out the bike runs but hunts for idle.
2. Raising the needle up the bike idles a little better but smokes once the bike is shut the exhaust smokes
3. Lowering the needle 1 clip the carb back fires, same thing happens with the stock mid needle location 2.25 turns out for the air screw starting with 1/4 choke.
4. Holding the throttle open a bit and trying to get going in 1st the bike bucks and then surges over and over.

Any help would be great

M is for Main jet? 165 sounds massive.

The exhaust smokes after the engine is shut off?

How does it operate under load with this setting?
