That V65 is no project bike. That thing looks near mint Joe, does it need anything at all?? Someone has taken care of it thats plain to see. How about a history report on it
Thanks for thinking of me with a few pics of the GS1100 and the matching lid. I dont care who you are that's one sharp looking bike
Thanks. I saw the helmet on Ebay this winter and pulled the trigger. It's the one they gave away with the bike in '82. Inside foam is toast, but it's cool to have.
Bought the V65 from a guy in Illinois (5.5 hours, one-way). It was on Ebay, Bid once, was high bidder ($1,651.00), but reserve not met. He came back with a second chance offer of $1,850.00 and I declined it. He put it up again on Ebay, again, I was high bidder, $1,525.00 this time. He came back a day or so later with a second chance to buy at the $1,525.00 bid. I guess he was ready to let it go.
The seller is a Goldwing and CBX guy... about 18 bikes, total. He is getting rid of some of his "lower" end bikes and that's how I came to have it. I don't have any further history on it, other than he had it for a year or two.
Not mint, by any means, but very nice. Needs very little, mostly a day to get it super clean, it looks to have had mud or something all over it??? It does a pair of Kerker mufflers, sounds pretty nice, not loud, but "beefy".
Definitely needs a new front tire in the next few hundred miles, shows some minor weather checking. The rear looks fine. Maybe fork seals, the forks seemed really dirty above the seals, just have to see after riding some.
Had another project today, the cylinder head cover on the Wes Cooley was leaking, pulled it apart only to find out the gasket I ordered was the wrong one..... I hate it when that happens, have to order another, one more week before I can go for a ride.... good thing I have spare bikes.
