I could've just left, but...
« on: March 22, 2016, 11:26:29 PM »
I wanted to say thank you to all of those who have helped me over the years. I have owned 2 CB550's and I could not have kept them on the road without the help of many persons on this forum. Alas, I sold my last SOHC last weekend and bought a NEW bike. I know, I won't be able to chase leaks or fiddle with carb settings, but the peace of mind that comes with a warranty is hard to beat. I'll troll around still, but I might have to find a Bonneville forum in which I can ask incessant questions regarding mundane topics.
Really, thanks again to this forum and community which helped make owning a Honda much more enjoyable .

I have warranty on my bike, CB750K6-76. If it fails I get new parts and job done. I'll do it :-)
A good looking CB750 brings so many memories everwhere I go, not only mine. No problem to have one more bike though.
There are very few  bikes out there I see as something for me beside  CB750, Kawasaki Z1-900/1000.
Maybe:
Big Dog, Ducati diavel strada, Moto Guzzi

I guess you will come back to this forum! :)

piece of mind is over rated.

I know my old bikes with carbs and points will always get me home. My new bikes with electronic crap have both left me stranded :(

I'll be getting a new bike eventually, but I'll never get rid of Rhonda.

Congrats on the Bonnie, though. They're great fun.

Yes your still Welcome here ! But I have to agree with "Irutt" ! Not only do the New bikes have all the electronics that Will go south, but after the warranty runs out you have to PAY the Stupid shop prices and I don't trust anybody to work on my bike (spelled PARANOID) ! That being said, Enjoy your New Trump, just remember we're always here for you !   ...cougar...

What did you get, a Bonneville? I've never ridden a new bike, but figured one day I'd check out Triumphs and H-Ds. I've been curious of the quality of the Bonnevilles and Scramblers. I see them around, but I've never really checked them out. Are they all chain drive and carbs? Any belt drives or fuel injection? As long as my 750 is strong I'm happy though.

I believe the Bonnies are all EFI and chain driven.  The last few years, they made the throttle bodies look like carbs, but it appears they have kind of ditched that now too.  I like the new Bonnie Street Twin.  Only has the 900 twin, not the 1200.... but I like the nice meld of modern/classic styling.

Correction:  Judging by a picture on the Triumph website, it looks like the T120 still has the fake carb looking throttle body.

I bought a Bonneville T100. EFI, but aircooled.

Just keep looking in everyone is and check what everyone is up to ...enjoy the new bike and ride safely.

I go to a chomers in the UK  very close to the Triumph factory ..what a success story that is ..revived by a property builder. I was in  a boring engineering meeting  at work  in the early 90's and one of the guys ( a visitor from an on-site engineering company) had the surname Silk, so I asked him if he knew of the Silk motorcycle ..turned out he was Mr Silk himself. Meeting went from boring to mega interesting from that point onwards Evidently he was head-hunted by the re-born Triumph but declined to join them but advised them on their new design.

Why have I always thought that song was by Hall and Oates?
