This will probably go on forever, but it's starting to get a little old for me. Harleys are like guns (if I may tie 2 threads together); they're both tools. What is done with them depends on the owner.
I had to resurrect that. Were you quoting one of my favorite lines (from the movie Shane)?
"Marion, a gun is just a tool. No better, nor worse than the man who uses it. Try to remember that."
I don't dislike Harley riders; however, I have no use for the wannabees who are wearing every piece of HD clothing imaginable, and I do imagine they wear HD underwear because they obviously have to strip down and dress up for each ride. It's the same with other sports that cost money. When I was working at a chi-chi fru-fru ski resort, I'd see the women in their new skis and one piece Bogner's. They couldn't ski to save their rich little souls. On the other hand, I'd see the local kids in their jeans, camos and beat to crap skis. Now, they could ski.
As for the non-wannabees, the only guy I know personally who is restoring a CB ('77 750, like mine) is an old hand and HD rider. He's finishing his '77 and is looking for a good deal on a matching CB so he can make a pair and give them to his kids. Cool, no? Also, when I was riding back in the Mesozoic Era, when Dinosaurs ruled the earth and HD apparel was limited to black T-shirts, an HD rider stopped to help me when I had a breakdown. Back then, no HD rider would give me the time of day, but when I was in trouble, one stopped to help.
