No fuel to Carbs 3 and 4 - CB550F
« on: October 17, 2006, 11:00:33 AM »
So, I got my newly rebuilt CB550F running, but only on #1 and #2.

The bowls in 3 and 4 are bone dry.  Fuel in the line all the way to the T, but nothing beyond that.

I plan on pulling the float valves and see if fuel starts pouring in.  If so, hopefully, I'll pop the valves from my other working carbs in and off I go.

Seems like the T splitting the fuel between #3 and #4 wouldn't be prone to failure, but how big is the opening in this fitting?  Prone to clogging?  I'm not familiar with the path the fuel takes from this fitting into the carbs.

#1 and #2 are fine - valves weren't closing allowing fuel to overflow upon first use, but they've sorted themselves out.

Any thoughts?

Well that would suck (or not I suppose).  If I remove the valves and blow compressed air etc. through the T, think that might do it?  I presume the passages narrow from the T fitting into the carb body and ultimately to the valves - is this a complex route?

Bottom line is I really don't want to take the carbs off the bike and split the bank to take the T fitting out.  ::)  I'll try just about anything.  I know carb cleaner in there wouldn't be a good thing as there are o-rings.  Any other solvents I could put in that wouln't turn the rubber to goo?
