I say what I want but  I dont talk stupid. I could say my bike does this and that but then some know-it-all will ask for a dyno test. That would be hard to show since a dyno is very hard to find around here that will do bikes.
I could say I have good paint, some otehr know-it-all, or maybe the same one, would ask for a pic. Sure I can take a pic then doctor it in photoshop.

The point I am making is that everyone wants to be able to talk about his ride without having some a-hole come down on him for no reason at all. I have seen it happen to noobs here. They are excited about their bike, then one jerk comes and blasts them for no reason other than trying to make themselves feel more manly.

EC may have had his moments but I never saw him dump on a persons bike just because he wasnt satisfied with some piddly statement.

Some people (JP) openly asked for criticism and got loads of it. Then got upset. If you ask for it and get it, then you shouldn't complain. If your intent is to blast someone or their bike because it makes you feel better, then perhaps you have bigger problems.

dg,what i meant was,if someone posts on a thread and somehow makes a mistake with that post, instead of deleting it they should either, submit a post explaining the previous post or apologize for posting that post to begin with.

Since you brought it up................

I have seen exactly that. Elcheapo was might critical of Carpy.

Its not a question of bikes. Its a question of attitude and peoples reaction to percieved slights.

Someone mentioned JP....well JP had a good attitude about his post and  after the initial post I sure did like the guy.

I like elcheapo too. Wish rather than deleting is account he'd done what he said he was gonna do and ignore the trouble makers.

Dgfisher its a shame you only stopped because you were asked to.....the mod's shouldn't have had to ask.

Stranger in a strange land

OK I think I remember that one. My basic point is still valid though. I try not to degrade another persons ride at least not on purpose.

But what would you do if you had said that you have gotten Dyno results?

I could post figures but as I have no scanner, I could not post the document.  Besides, what does it matter?  If someone says they are getting a certain amount of power, why should I question it? Am I in some sort of race? Don't think so. Is there some sort of prise for having the most powerful sohc? Not that I have heard. If they have the power they say, thats great, spank a few harleys for the rest of us.  In the end, does it really matter? If someone wants to talk big, let em. I did not see anywhere that said you have been appointed to some office that allows you to question and demand proof for everything a person says.

I do not go around saying I get this amount of hp, the most I say is that it certainly does not take long to hit 60. Are you going to ask for proof on that too? Sorry, no track around here to get official timings. We have dirt ovals here. We do not have 1/4 miles.

You should pucker the hole a little less and relax buddy.

Alright Boys I got it!!! Not sure why it took me so long to have this epiphany?!?!?

Let's do a SOHC version of Pinks !!!

Winner gets the other guy's ride! Bob Wessner can be the starter and Glenn can hang out at the finish line to announce who won...

So the race would be who can spout off the fastest, with the most objectionable and nasty things said about the other person in the fewest posts......??

Actually I was kind of hoping to end all that by doing a 1/4 or an 1/8th mile but I guess that would work too!  Although I was kind of hoping to have it all ended in less that 12.5 seconds...

What happened?  Folks are talking sideways about dgfischer and ElCheapo, I guess EC deleted and resurrected as anubiscycle, I missed alot!

I find that forums such as this one are great for obtaining useful info on the main subject (Here it is SOHC/4 Hondas), and interacting with people of like mind on the main subject.  Sometimes, though, the forums take a slight curve and become alot more like real life in that everyone isn't always courteous and respectful.  Some folks look at forums, IMs, chat rooms, etc. as places where they can behave like complete asses just because of the anonymity afforded by the internet;  others, such as myself, feel that these venues are better suited to practicing a more peaceful and courteous demeanor (as kind of an opposite to the everyday world full of A-holes).  One other thing;  sometimes these arguments are extremely entertaining!   :-[

I was part of another forum last year(dedicated to a totally different subject) that ended up in bad shape(IMO) because there was too much drama that just kept snowballing.  The result was that everyone stopped the comradery and just answered nebie questions and such in a stilted, robot-like fashion.  Let's definitely get along, but let's also stay who we are ;)

Since my previous post I dug around and got the jist of what was going on.  Folks were talking sideways about DG and EC because they were talking sideways about each other.  I guess I'm all caught up now :D

Seriously, guys, forget the details, you both have some great bikes that are inspiration for me and my 750 (and I'm sure many other members here).
