Nope, he has a 650 i think as his avatar. He drops by to sell usually. I have never seen him in any other area of the site. For some reason I am thinking like Dave tom? Or something around those lines.

I know who you're talking about but I can't for the life of me remember his handle. I communicated with him about a 650 cam but I cleaned out my message folder the first of the year. Sorry!

Hopefully I can get some more insight. Here is a 650 cam. There is some pitting in the lobes. I've had 2 people who have advised me against using the cam.

There is a member cb650 seems to have a few parts. If it was plug and play I would use it with the thought of looking for a nicer one later on. It's not like you have to pull the head to replace it. If you plan on spending some cash on your rebuild then I would look for something in better shape.

I may run this one if that one is that tore up. I don't know. I communicated with the seller and I guess i bought it almost 2 years ago. He advised me saying it is useable. Maybe I could get Hondaman into this thread and hear his opinion.

For what its worth, I have been running a cam with about that level of pitting on 3 of 8 lobes on the exhaust cam in my CB750F DOHC for a couple of thousand kilometers with no ill effects as of yet :) ...oil is clean, no racket and the valve clearance is stable.

If the pics show everything I wouldn't worry about running it. Seen a lot worse run just fine in small blocks. Granted those aren't overhead cam engines.

I have seen quite a few 650 cams (including mine) with that sort of pitting with no adverse effects. The lobes look good with no abnormal wear. Do not use hardweld rockers with that cam. Be generous with the assembly lube, and let it break in good before giving it the WOT test.

Thanks for the insight MI. What do you mean by hardweld rockers? For now I'm running the stock ones.

I think I'm going to run it. There is pitting but it's not rough. My buddy who helped me rebuild the engine told me to put the original cam in. I can't get to it for a few days so I may change my mind

Oil retention pits..
means the oil will collect in the pits and rocker should glide over the pit if it is not sharp.bill
