Reupholstering seat with original seat pan.
« on: April 17, 2015, 01:45:19 PM »
Is it possible to reupholster a seat for a 72 cb350k3 with the original seat pan. I'd even consider making a new seat pan? Any of you cafe racing guys do this? Tips, tricks, procedures?

using your original seat pan....
you can DIY with hardware store foam, spray glue, and a carving knife. shape your own, and have it custom upholstered..
You can have an upholsterer do all of the above...
you can buy a new cover on the internet and add it over the original foam
you can buy a whole foam pad and cover kit
or, you can buy a whole new seat(used, repro, oem)

I like to rivet these around the inside perimeter of the pan to replace the stock tabs that have usually rotted or broken off by now:

Wait wait, you can buy premade covers? The rest of the products and steps are pretty intuitive. I was just worried about the cover material. What foam do you guys suggest, I'm sure there's good and bad and better.

And I suppose more importantly, where do you buy the covers?

Hey when they do dump day look for a junk reclining chair and you'll find all of that you want. I was recycling leather off a chair and saved several strips of that stuff and thought the same thing.

There are several ebay sellers that advertise new replacement covers for various hondas. find an auction for a 750, 550 etc. and then look at that sellers other items. search seat covers, or cb350 seat cover, etc

Much thanks guys. Didn't know all this was put there. I thought I'd be getting resourceful, but these are pretty straight forward.
