Original Seat Cover Material Softening? Seat Patch Kit?
« on: April 22, 2015, 08:53:59 AM »
I have an original seat that has two issues. Overall its in nice looking shape but the seat  cover has become brittle/stiff from age. Has anyone had any luck conditioning the vinyl material to restore its pliability? I read an old post about using Avon skin so-soft. Anyone had any success/recommendations? Also one small strip along welting has lost the top black vinyl coating, but underlying white backing material is still intact. Years ago I remember seeing a vinyl repair kit [ a glue like material that could be applied] I thought of using an black RTV to hide blemish but thought it would be too shinny to match well. Ideas? Thanks, Paul.

The skin so soft works. As far as the color, black spray on dye is the only thing I can think of, mavbe shoe polish.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Try some liquid electrical tape. Is basically liquid rubber in a bottle. Brush it on and forget it. Stays pliable and dries to a matte finish.
