exhaust gaskets
« on: April 23, 2015, 10:03:38 AM »
After reading different articles it came to my attention that there should be gaskets between the header and manifold. My 350f didn't have any and until now didn't know they were needed. So I'll ask a question out of ignorance, Why do I need them If I don't notice any leaks? ???

They might be there and you didn't know? Sometimes they're hard to spot. Clean the port and look for a slim line on the inside, lightly scrape a screwdriver there you may feel something catch near the end. I've seen 2 stacked...

I highly doubt they were not there, you would have been having some tough times tuning the bike, possibly some whistling exhaust sounds and crazy deceleration popping.

yes, they are needed.  they seal against exhaust leaks.  you'll need to pick the old ones out before new ones go in.

you might have a leak and not know it  ::)  creates less than ideal back pressure for your bike to run properly.
easy install, and you dont have to completely remove your exhaust, either.    just back them out enough to slide the crush ring in
