WOW would of hate to of seen a full size truck behind the bike. I bet he was a new rider and got the crap scared out of him also. He shouldn't own any kind of driving license if he is going to drive off. So he would of done this in a vehicle I'm guessing. what a Low Life.

Not to make assumptions about this dude or anything, but there's guys all over LA that have no experience riding, and want to be cool, so they just go grab themselves a Bonnie off the shelf. Usually they're the stock "cafe racer" trim. Which to me defeats the purpose of the concept of a cafe racer, which is spending the time/love modding it to your own personal needs. It's like showing up to a holiday potluck with a store-bought pumpkin pie. Appreciate the contribution, but you put no love or effort into it. When I see guys around LA pull up in a brand new Bonnie, 9/10 times you strike up a conversation with them, they just started and don't know jack about bikes. Which is cool; we all start somewhere. But a guy that takes a curve like that is clearly isn't comfortable cornering yet and felt like that was his time to push his limits—on the Crest frickin Highway. We've all made mistakes out there. But not stopping and turning around to make sure he didn't kill a man is deplorable. Thousands of riders in LA are trying to track this dude down right now on Instagram and facebook. I think I just saw that someone matched his description with another photo with a license plate on it. It's only a matter of time before this guy gets what's coming to him.

Fenders got himself a Bonnie now?

In all seriousness, that guy could have redeemed himself quite a bit had he stopped and helped, and just admitted he'd over-cooked the bend. We've all done it.

Oh wait - I don't see any mirrors on his bike. He was probably too busy trying to keep his arse-cheeks together to look back over his shoulder. What a wanker. Hope you find him >:(

This is the same scenario that killed Axl the Satanic Mechanic; a newbie rider took a turn too hot and crossed lanes killing Axl who was a very experienced long-time rider. Sometimes evasive action is just not possible. RIP Axl.

I kind agree with Cal the other thing is and I'll toss this out so people can comment  I think that confronted with a situation like that my tendencies would have been to pull my left hand in as far as I could locked my arm against the tank , hunched down and leaned into the projected impact so that the on coming bike would have been bounced away. Now I say this not so much to crank things up but ask if that would be a valid strategy? Now if that was an oncoming car or truck that would change things. Also that is what it would have been 30 years ago when things used to happen in slow-motion not now. Thanks for your responses.

I agree and when I was younger I constantly made up situations to try and figure a respones and then try and practice the solution to see if it worked if it didn't, then modify it or throw it out and my scenario above would have been a responce that I had thought about before and I'm genuinely curious if it would have worked simply because your not setting yourself to impact but if impact happened you might have a better chance at coming out on top and yes on the rear brake. I remember driving along a snowy street with a Yamaha 175 and saying what would happen if I did a power slide so I tried it and said oh wow feet up power slide I wonder if I can get all the way around, half way there and couldn't make up my mind whether to ease off or more gas and then I dumped it, any how it's bugged me, for it would be maybe 40 years that I haven't made time or had the right conditions to find out if more gas would have allowed me to bring it around for a 360. Now of course I'm too goddam  old and fragile.

You're not making assumptions, you are correct! We seem to have our fair share of Rookie Hipster Bonnie owners here too. Backfire Moto night is full of them.

Not sticking up for this guy by any stretch of the imagination, but it appears he was riding way beyond his abilities and crossed the centerline in the curve.  I have seen this many times on my visits to the Tail of the Dragon in TN.  Way too often guys ride to fast for their abilities and end up sliding out and across the line to manage staying up through the turn.

I feel for the guy on the bike run off the road by this jerk, I would if I was in his shoes send the plate information into the police if not for the future safety of other riders, for the jerks safety as well.  I am glad the injured rider survived, last summer I was witness to a similar accident where neither riders survived.   :(

Same thing almost cost me my life or my left leg on the Dragon 2 years ago. Riding over his head, totally blew the turn, leaning and not steering. Entered wide and tried to cut the turn. Too fast. I saw a red flash, heard a loud BAM then tried to roll myself out of the ditch but the leg wouldn't let me. Almost head on. He didn't go anywhere except over his bars and onto the street. He got a ticket at the least and maybe a broken arm. I had 2 broken bones and a mangled leg with a nasty gash in my forehead. I had to fight the insurance companies for a year and half. Mostly better now.

RIP Axl.

Nail the #$%*!! He was probably too worried about cleaning his pants to look back.

Not only do us motorcycle guys have to constantly watch out for the crazies in cars, but in some cases just like the video shows sometimes it's another motorcycle rider who is at fault riding reckless and way to fast for his or her ability(sorry ass no good for nothing %$^#$*$ for not stopping) and could of very easy cost 2 people their lives :(

Guy on the Triumph took turn too fast. Hard to know how I'd have reacted, since fear would have been added to the equation.

Both riders were trying to be "Joe racer" on a public road.
This wasn't even much of a corner.
When riding on public roads, you always need to leave room for error. Yours or the other persons.
Look up the road, not right in front of you.   Be ready for anything.

True, this. The gixxer could've saved himself. The mindset seems to be that this is some sort of game.

I withheld my opinion for a bit because I was really thinking the same thing.  This was NOT a hard corner, it wasn't even really a blind corner for that matter.  The Triumph rider has ZERO excuse for his behavior, but how did the other rider miss it?  Although I will admit the Gixxer really didn't have any real way to escape - the other rider was just too far into his lane.

if you look close it looks like the shoulder is covered in sand which is pretty common on roads in arrid places. I think once he hit the sand it was all over, there was no recovering from that. Glad he was pretty much OK. They seem to have the Bonnie's license plate did they ever catch that guy? Unless the bike was stolen thpolice could just go to the guy's house, don't you think?
