Fence Row Fresh!!
« on: April 23, 2015, 02:33:50 PM »
I drove past this beauty a few days ago, parked out in a pasture near a farmyard. Can anyone Id the year on this bike? Is it a K or an F?

First things that I notice is that she is missing airbox and headlight and has longer fork tubes and a really nice king&queen seat ::). Would you try bring this back from the grave or is this more of a parts bike candidate? I am nearing the re-assembly completion of my 550 and getting the itch for the next challenge :)

Not enough info to know whether it is a viable subject for restoring or not. What is the price? Looks like it has a standard "Cibie' " type headlight which was a standard mod when "chopping" BITD.

has a 77/78K tank...
no plug wires makes me ask if the plugs are still in it.  If YES, i'd be a little more interested.
If no, its most likely frozen.  might be worth a part-out if cheap.
probably not visible from the road in the spring  ;D

Yes, I had noticed the missing plug caps and wires and was thinking that it is likely seized if the plugs are missing as well. It doesn't really strike me as a bike that someone really cared for, more of a "rode hard and put away wet" type of relationship with the owner.

I wasn't willing to hop the fence and go read the VIN plate, I was just fishing here to see if someone could see any identifying features of a specific year.

Its not advertised as for sale but Im sure I could make an offer and see if they bite... likely just for parts unless I get a better look at it. But if the price is right ;)

And appears to have a K7-8 front fender too.   Go save it!

Why are people so stupid to leave a bike like that.

Looks like airbox and filters are missing also. Certainly worth asking about. I'd haul it off for them for free, win/win for both of us. Salvage value would be around $37.50 right now.

Yeah, it certainly makes me cringe to see a bike left for dead in the pasture, I may have to rescue this just on principle.
I need this one for parts Honey...

$200 to $300, but only if it had papers. Without paper I'm to the point now that I would have to charge at least $50 to haul it off.  ;)
