I thought this would be a great bike when the harley is down (7 days out of 10)
I looked back at your pics Gus and see you have a AMF (American Machine and Foundry) Harley. No wonder it stays broke down ;D Just to be honest and no offense, but they are P.O.S!! Through out the 70's when AMF had them the quality, and workmanship was so bad. It wasn't until the early 80's when investors one including Willie Davidson(grandson of one of the founders) bought back Harley from AMF did things start to improve. Around this time they came out with the new Evolution(Evo) engine to replace the old outdated Shovelhead motor. Many say the new Evo saved Harley from doom because it was so durable and reliable compared to the Shovelhead. Ok just a little back ground on Harley. But I speak from experience. My 97 Wide Glide that I bought in 2000 has a Evo and has never left me stranded or leaked a drop of oil. The one and only time it's ever broke was when the stator went out on it a few years ago.

Ya know I'd head that till i owned one, but an old timer told me that wise tale no longer holds up....any of them on the road still has to have had some work done to them for them to still be alive. It was something i hadn't considered before! I just love to look and sound.

Agree.  I had a new 73 XLH Sportster.  Not a bad bike.  Bought a new 77 FXE Superglide.  The exact opposite.  Poor build quality, incompetent dealer service.  Only kept it one year.  Not at all sorry to see it go.  Bought a 78 CB750F.

What a score for $200.  The clutch story is "OFF" since you can change it out completely with the motor in frame.  I wonder if it's stock displacement or an overbore kit, or other mods.

Darn close!

Local honda has the jet for $7 and NAPA the battery for 28. Gonna pick up (at least one) of them today.

Would really like to see this pop off soon.

Do you have a part number or link for that battery ?  $28.00 sure sounds like a cheap price, wonder if my local has them. Usually their stuff seems more expensive.

You can just run jumper cables to your car battery.  Just keep the car off and dont start it.

Im a little jealous.  Nice find.  Cant seem to get deals here in NY anymore.

I take it the motor turns?  Hows the inside of the gas tank?

Cheers,

-James
