Invitation to Ride in West Virginia
« on: April 28, 2015, 08:02:20 AM »
Gentle Readers,

Have you always wanted to ride the fabulous roads of West Virginia in the Fall with a group of like-minded folks?  West Virginia allows you to experience everything from lovely sweepers to blind hairpin corners in just a few miles on well-paved, cambered and maintained roads.  There is low traffic volume, bike-friendly law enforcement, and great scenery.

I lead an informal group that has been using Marlinton, WV as our home base since it has easy access to many roads.  This year's Ride is September 11th - 14th (Friday - Monday) with everyone arriving on the 11th and leaving on the 14th.  We ride rain, shine, light, dark, zombies, and alien invasions.  We even have a Yahoo group, WVA Ride (http://goo.gl/cNWqMj).

We stay at the Jerico B&B and Civil War Cabins (http://www.jericobb.com/) using the Lewis Cabin (sleeps 6) or the Main House (6 rooms).  The price for the Cabin depends on how many occupants stay there (last year it was $95/person with 6 people) whereas the Main House is a fixed price.

If you are interested in joining us this year, please contact me via my gmail account or join our Yahoo group.

Thanks for your interest,

         Bruce

Way cool! I rode near there last summer. I picked up US Highway 250 in Staunton, VA and took that up through Elkins to Grafton, where I picked up 50 West to continue on. The ride from Staunton to Monterey was one of the most memorable rides I've ever done.

Next time I intend to do it in the daytime!

Rt 250 out of Staunton is quite nice.  Next time you are in the area, take Rt 33 out of Harrisonburg towards Elkins.  Now that pass is worth doing over in both directions about 10 times....

Many nice roads in the area and we are still exploring them.
