1978 cb750 f3 exhaust question.
« on: May 10, 2015, 07:21:50 AM »
I recently bought a 1978 cb 750 f3 with a Vance and Hines 4into1 header and a custom inverted megaphone muffler.  The muffler that matched the headers came with the bike, many it appears to be the straight cone that comes with the drag set.

Can I slip the street version over the drag headers?  Does it fit?

If so, can I find just that street muffler for sale new by itself (I am trolling eBay for used)?

Anybody know what the provenance of my muffler might be or any other muffler-only options for the header I have?

Check out Cone Engineering, I have quiet core muffler from them and love it.  They have different inlet sizes and other mufflers  too.

That Vance and Hines header is generically known as a "Sidewinder"...basically meant for drag racing only.  You will never have adequate ground clearance for safe right turns with that.  You can probably sell or trade it to someone here..looks like a Cone Engineering reverse cone megaphone on there already.
If it works good, it looks good...
