Honda Speedometer and revcounter refurbishment
« on: May 05, 2015, 08:12:53 PM »
Just bought some replacement stickon faces for my 1977 Honda CB550K3 clocks from a UK supplier. Total disappointment. The background is the wrong green and there is no depth of colour. The font is wrong. The division markers are too long. They look like they were printed on an inkjet. After discussion in the local vintage club it was agreed that nobody would want to use them. I now find that most adverts for these faces are selling exactly the same  product  which suggests they all result from a common computer file so unless you want exact replicas avoid them. The only reason I wanted new faces is because like other Honda clocks the red zone on my revcounter has faded to white and it strikes me that someone ought to produce a suitable decal that would simply replace the red area. Does anyone know of a firm that produces EXACT replica faces? Incidentally, for anyone wanting to get inside their clocks there is a lot of info on the web and I can tell you that it isn't difficult but just needs time and care - and a good tip is to put insulation tape and a jubilee clip over the crimping ring to stop the outer face deforming when you prise it open.

There are many replacement clocks faces available.  Not.just decals, but replacement plates.
Contact this eBay seller.   I got these and am happy.   photos of my gauges are #4/5 in this listing...Just inquire about oem style for 550's.  I think.the seller is still on this forum.
