Shipping Bikes To Japan
« on: May 05, 2015, 11:06:15 AM »
Anyone done it?  I would like to help my buyer find a reputable shipper to get one bike over to Japan.  Any recommendations?

Hi Greggo,

I've not done that myself, but within Europe I have good experience of Chas Mortimer's company. His reach is global, so he could well be worth a try :

Thank God we live in the land of plenty. Rick Brett, Germans, Japanese and Italians and many others have been plundering  our soil and sending so many bikes overseas for profit its astonishing. Prices thanks to E-bay and other markets, and their VATS in Europe along with increased shipping etc. have helped a little but a lot of stuff has left our soil.Just sayin' . Every bike that leaves is one you never get a chance at owning and they are aggressive buyers.

No, in some small town near Traverse City. He bought a Train Depot and set up a museum.

I toured his new place a few years ago shortly after he bought it and have not heard of a museum there now though he had some super nice stuff stashed at his nearby house. As far as I know its his collection point while he is traveling all over picking up his or customers bikes they have bought or which gets delivered there which he loads into containers for shipment back to England.  My son was just up there last week and sent me a few pictures for fun. Looks like he ends up with the infamous Vetter and roll bar pile also.
The 'Depot' is located in Cedar Sean, some really nice riding up around those back roads  ;)  Other than an invited visit once I have never seen or caught anyone around there since.
