Happiness is...
« on: May 05, 2015, 04:07:40 PM »
Riding through a hail storm.

Yeah, sounds F'd up, but I got caught in a hard hail storm on the way home today.  Had to endure about 3 miles of pebble sized hail at 60 mph.  Hurt like mad, my head was ringing, the bike was cutting through a wall of water and hail like an ocean liner.

At the end of it all I raised my fist to the sky and was laughing like a lunatic.  I felt great for some reason.  Still do.  Got a huge bruise on my bicep where the hail was pelting me through the gaps in my riding suit.

I was a little concerned actually about dropping it.  The road was under about 1/2" of water and the tires were acting a bit squirrely.

I have only have been caught in a hail storm once, but i still remember it, it was in the early 80's, on a cambered stretch of road, it was like riding on marbles and hurt my hands like hell, no gloves.... :o

Never been caught in a hail storm on a bike but as a 6 year old in Melbourne i got caught walking home from the shops..

Weird weather. I walked to the shops without a shirt on cause it was hot (as you did 40 odd years ago)

then half way home the wind picked up till i had to lean into it  before being peppered with pea size hail for a couple of minutes.

I was feeling sorry for myself when i got home.

I rode thru a short hail storm coming home from Denver. It wasn't very long, but it was intense!  The hail hitting my helmet was deafening! Surviving that did make me feel like I had accomplished something. Yeah, you were completely justified raising a fist to the sky!

happiness is when a buyer actually shows up with the $ WHEN he says he will show up.
Laugh at least once a day.
Life  $ucks, then you die.
You are entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts.
God forces us to live with  non-believers to test our resolve.

Your old man seems very wise.
