Greetings from Central North Carolina, USA
« on: May 12, 2015, 06:22:11 PM »
When I was a sophomore in high school (15 yrs old) I had a friend named Karl.  Karl's parents were both lawyers.  We we putzin' around on our 125/250cc dirt bikes and Karl pulled up on a brand new '77 CB750.  Our jaws dropped, it was an amazing thing to behold.  A couple of the other guys ended up on KZ1000's and the like, I stuck to my dual sports.  Fast forward to last weekend.  A guy at work was selling a '77 CB750 for $450.  6800 miles on it, been in a barn most of it's life.  Well, now it's mine!

It's covered in dust, grime, dirt, tarnish, and has aluminum stains and surface rust on the chrome.  Paint has been molested, many rubber do-dads are long gone, non-stock exhaust, air-box long gone, carbs gunky, some lights don't work, But, it's mine!

I've got about $500 in parts on the way; battery, tubes/straps/tires, chain cleaning gunk, brake rebuild kit for the caliper, yada yada.

Really glad I found you folks!

Let the restore begin!

Thanks!

Yes, I think I will do that.

First up tho is getting the title squared away.  Seems a fat-fingered clerk in VA back in 2005 has caused me to be thrust into the abyss that is, "North Carolina Department of Transportation, Theft and Recovery Division"  VIN plate "CB750Kxxxxxx", title says, "CN750Kxxxxx"  An obvious clerical error, take a look at a computer keyboard and note the position of the B and N.  But try explaining that to folks who's vocabulary mostly consists of, "Next!", and "no".

<sigh> Take a deep breath, walk through it with my head held high, it's all about the process............

That should be fairly easy to resolve. Consider getting a VIN verify tigon from your local police dept or inspection station.
