Brake shoe relining
« on: May 13, 2015, 07:32:05 AM »
Has anyone dealt with a reliable company that can reline brake shoes?  Or have tips for DIY?

I have a mid-80's Yanmar lawn tractor and the brake shoe linings are shot.  Finding new or rebuilt parts is proving impossible, so I've been looking into relining services.  I'm hesitant to just send these off to someplace out of state (I'm in SE PA) since I'll be totally screwed if they get lost in the mail.  I found a potential local source, but they havne't returned my calls, so I'm still looking.

An alternative to having this done is to find the friction material and gluing it on myself with JB weld or something similar as long as I don't have to buy a roll of the stuff.

Glenn...the Napa store where I worked at used to do these shoes if they were riveted and not bonded. They still may have material and rivets and the press to do that work.

Send me a PM if you want the phone number and contact name.

Glen, I have a friend that used to rebuild tractors as a hobby. He had some good forums like this one. Let me reach out to him and see what he would suggest.
