Now this was brilliant, I rode to my eye doctor appointment. 

Just made it back, 40 urban miles with dilated eyes.  I could see the road and traffic and traffic lights but street signs were hard to read

Glad you made it OK !! I had the same last September in Nimes, left the doctor's office into blinding midday sunshine, I felt like a friggen vampire. Had to go for a two hour lunch and keep checking in a mirror if I was back to normal.
