Topic: Honda cb650 carb problem.

Hey everybody

I'm new to this site and have a few questions about my good old cb650.

I have been glad for my cb650 until a few hours ago when i decided to pull out the old engine and replace it with another engine with a lower mileage on it, also i wanted to renovate the original engine but still wanted to drive the bike so i bougt a replacement and everything went well until i needed to install the carbs on the newer engine.
The carbs i have is Vb54 type carbs but they dont fit on the new engine, the question i have is this:
Is it possible to get some carb boots that allow me to use the VB54 type carbs on the engine instead of changing to pd type carbs?

The old engine no is: RC03E-2226769 and the new is: RC03E-3200744.
The new engine is from a cb650 custom and mine is a cb650 z with frame no: RC03-2101615.

Your best solution is to buy PD-style carbs. On the hondacb650.com forums, some people try to use boots from a different bike (I don't remember which) or radiator hose, but it is not an ideal solution. The bike will run better with the correct carbs.

Thanks for the answer Jim, i was hoping for something else but you're right that the best thing is to find some pd carbs for the bike. .
Was just hoping i didn't have to spend to much to get it running again  , good thing i got my xs1100 while i'm working on the honda
