ST90- Goldie's Mighty Green
« on: May 17, 2015, 07:25:33 PM »
I've been wanting one of these and the ct70's since I was a kid, now my wish just came true.

Picked it up this past Friday after work from bike flipper in the area.  Very beat condition.

Then got to work right away. Pics!

I think may be too many pics now...

And the fun began, Weekend went by,  and here's how it looks.

And here's the problem

Cracked left side engine case! Hmm...

That was quick.

This is when things get slowed down.

Trying to decide
1.  Abandon the project because of cracked case
2. Repair the crack
3. Source another pair of cases and replace
4. Source new motor

I like choices 3 &4 best. I never knew there was a 90.......only 70's. It shouldn't be too hard to come up with a motor or cases for that. Those little buggers are getting some good dollars.......the little 70's and trail 90's.

I've never seen a 90, either? Had a 70, and my buddy had one too, so we had a lot of fun "racing" in my back yard. ;D You might look for a cheap Chinese replacement motor, like Tugboat found for the C200 that won this years endurance race.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

Lifan motor!!! Read my thread here about the Scrapper 24. We ran a [practically new] Lifan 125 for 24 hours straight and it performed beautifully. You can get the motor, intake, carb, CDI & harness for $280 SHIPPED on ebay or dratv.com or tboltusa.com.
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

Thanks guys.  I looked into lifan or other Chinese motors, but none are bolt on due to locations of mounting bolts to frame. If ct70's or other trail 90's, no problem.

While thinking how far I'm going with this one, probably just gonna make a rider, not show bike, so got one of the forks cleaned up.  Fork internal setup is same as the early 750's, just smaller

That's a cool little ST90 goldarrow.I'd install a 4 speed manual clutch big bore motor something like the S90;w/ a small engine it's great to have a manual clutch for powershifting  :)
75' CB400F/'bunch o' parts' & 81' CB125S modded to a 'CB200S'
I love the small ones too !

Quoted from the seller.....HONDA ST90 ENGINE - HOT ROD!! BIG BORE + PERFORMANCE CAM!!

This ST90 engine has been completely taken apart, soda-blasted, inspected and professionally re-assembled.  It has a brand new 54mm high compression piston raising the displacement 20% to 107cc- the largest it can go.  All seals and gaskets have been replaced with new as well as new fasteners.  This engine has the stock Honda cylinder that has been professionally machined to match the piston.  The rings have been gapped for top performance.  The stock Honda head features a cast-iron combustion chamber and has been reconditioned with new intake and exhaust valves and a high-lift/long duration cam has been installed.  There are no broken/cracked fins, bungs, mounting points, etc.

Now THAT looks pretty interesting.  What motor is that? And what's been done to it? Any info?

2 different engines there, the top one was a CB125 which was modified to resemble (loosely) the CT110 engine, a sectioned #4 cylinder and head from a Yamaha FZR600 was grafted on, top speed thus far had been 87 mph
The 2nd pic is a CT110 with an extra 3mm stroke added, and topped with a CB125 head and barrel, good for 71 mph
