I've got this nice pr. of M/C boots that's just a little too big for me(riding works fine but they're a bit loose for walking)but not by much.I enjoy the boots and want to find a pr. of 'wide weave' polyester Thick socks that'll be comfortable, cool w/ some cushion to them.I have some that are not quite thick enough but wide weave, polyester and cool in the hot weather too. I'm so used to shopping at 'Wally World' that I don't really know where to find socks like I want. Any of you know? or have any experience you could share w/ me on where you found some comfortable riding socks for your boots ?

edit: the front where my toes are feels just right but back toward where the rear of my heel is, the fit is a little loose;I'm thinking thicker socks will be snug back there.

Maybe some of those padded soles you put inside of the shoes?

Will those Merino wool socks be cool(breathe) in the heat as much as a similar wide weave polyester thick sock ?

I have a pair of SmartWool PhD Meduim Outdoor Crew Socks that I wear just for riding.  80% merino wool + cotton/spandex.
Built for the outdoors, they are very comfortable and wicking when its hot.  Ive had them for 2+ years, and i'm probably due for another pair.  Spendy at $20+/-

Smartwool socks are great.  Warm in winter and breaths great in summer.

they are better than polyester at keeping a nice climate.
insoles are also a good idea. you can get wool ones for added warmth in the cold season.

The Smartwool socks are the best hiking/backpacking socks I've found yet. Never had a problem with them not wicking or breathing even in the desert heat.  I'll usually take a change of socks when climbing Mt. Borah. Didn't need to change them before the descent like I did with other socks the last time I went up.

+1 on the smart wool brand. They make winter socks(thicker) and thinner summer socks. That's all I use now. Got rid of all my cotton.
Costco sells a knockoff brand that is much cheaper. Also works just as good.

We used to use polypropylene liners to wick away moisture into the outer sock.
