A good painter can get "depth" in  any gloss paint finish, I've seen straight block colors that look like you could almost put your hand into, it looked wet... ;)  Lots of sanding between coats to get it perfectly smooth..

My stock Candy Jade Green had a duller hue...

Hey Don...do you think it being 35+ years old could have caused that?

Hey, what does MY age plus 13 years have to do with it?!  ;) ;D

I think that part of it was sun damage, but also clean restorations as shown in the SOHC/4 gallery (1975 CB550K) have a darker hue of green.  http://www.sohc4.net/cb550-gallery/

maybe "depth" isn't the correct term because the kind of "depth" you get with a two part finish isn't the same due to the effect of the candy with the light reflecting through the color layer instead of off of it.

Pictures really don't do any of these finishes justice - you have to go to a custom shop and see first hand how different finishes reflect in sunlight.

Yeah, i know what you are trying to say, I'm a painter myself, in industrial finishes and have friends that are excellent custom painters... ;)

 Bump....

Still trying to decide. If I knew I could get the Candy Jade Green right, I'd go that route.
Still looking for more pics. Maybe paint match examples, etc.

From what I can tell, CJG was a teal base coat with a candy gold on top.  If you take your tank or side covers off, you can usually see the base coat which should be a pretty true color, being in the shade it's whole life.   Still haven't made it over to the jeep lot, but I'm going to try to get over there tomorrow with a side cover.

Why not both blue and green alternatives?

I did pretty much the same thing with slightly different greens and blues.  I have 2 sets of bodywork -- something Scott S probably can scrounge up!

I'm totally keeping my eyes out for a second tank. I'm going with green this time, but I LOVE that blue.
