Neutral question and problem...
« on: May 01, 2015, 06:48:59 pm »
The problem is that although the shift lever and light tell me that it is in
neutral, the rear wheel spins like crazy. When I apply the rear brake the engine tries to stall. It is in
gear and I don't know what the problem is.

Any Hondamatic experts that can offer advice?

Apparently not, so I'll take a late stab.

When you say the shift lever tells you it's in neutral, do you mean you have clicked it down until it stops clicking?  I would start by not basing it off the gauge lights.  What does it do with each particular click?  Share that with us and we can go from there.  It's probably either in the transmission itself or the gauge light wiring.

I assume the bike is on the center stand.running in neutral the tire will spin however the bike should not stall when you apply the brake.if it does as you say it does it sounds like the torque converter is locking up.if the bike sat a long time you might want to try an oil change  2 or 3 times to try and flush out any and all junk, water, small animels etc.
don't buy it build it
