Rear Brake Spring (Cb400F)
« on: May 23, 2015, 07:48:22 PM »
Can someone post a pic of a properly installed spring on the rear brake?
I disconnected my brake pedal to get at my clutch, and the large spring (not the one attached to the brake light trigger) is loose and I don't think it's set up right.
Can someone help me out, or point me to a diagram showing the proper installation?

Thanks!

Look up a parts fiche online there are many different ones available. This will show all parts and sections of any bike and how the assemblies go together.
Common sense.....isn't so common!

It is quite simple.
There are 2 hooks on the spring, with the spring around the brake axle the large hook goes on the frame pipe supporting the saddle, the small one hooks on the lug that pulls the brake rod, in front of the lug to pull the rearbrake switch.
Without disassembly there isn't much to take a pic of, it's all behind the frame!

Right, it's tucked back there.
Didn't think to take a pic of it until it was off, so just didn't see how it hooked on.

The parts fiche show the part, but not how it's installed on the frame.

That description might be all I need.

Does this help?

I like poetry, long walks on the beach, and poking at dead things with a stick.
