So who hasn't done a quick rattle can job on some parts in the back or side yard, where even if your prep was great you can still get little particles in the paint? (Or bug footprints! Or dandelion parachutes!)
Hate it, right?
So this stone-simple idea occurred to me at a BBQ. You know those suspended portable big screens you use to keep flies off food? Well, this idea was inspired by seeing that, because the screens would only keep the bigger stuff off.
I had picked up some super cheap clear plastic storage boxes from ikea for garage/parts organization (they are like $1 each in myriad sizes). Clear plastic so you can see what is inside.
I grabbed an appropriate one and just covered the work the instant I stopped spraying. While working, the spray pressure seems to keep ambient crap away from the surface, the cover takes over that job nicely.
Get sizes that are bigger than the thing(s) you are painting.
Leave a little air vent so you don't get condensation.
The plastic actually warms in the sun and the still air in the box gets hotter than ambient and the paint kinda bakes on (this is a good thing).
I will never paint "naked" again. :-)
