I must be old school....
« on: May 25, 2015, 07:00:19 PM »
I do not have a cell phone.
If you really want to get my attention you can always write a letter
or call me on my landline when i am home.

I celebrate Christmas, not xmas, or the "holidays".

The players i referee I always call sir, or Ms. no matter their age.

usually I do not check emails more than once a day.

My Facebook thingy was only active for a month. Then i got bored with it.

When I burp i usually apologize after.

Even though I am from Canada, I do not like hockey.

If a motorcycle does not have a kickstarter, it does not belong in my garage.

I still change my oil and filters, and do minor repairs on my cars.

I have learned to respect law enforcement officers and found they return it in kind, usually.
As a matter of fact on the way between soccer games yesterday, i was given preferential treatment by  law officers
through traffic jams.

I am NOT old school.

I have a cell phone, no land line.

I check emails when I hear the notifier.

I'm not from Canada, I love Hockey.

I wish my kickstart only bikes had electric start as well.

I respect law enforcement but routinely speed over the limit.

I call everybody Sir or Miss/Ma'am.
I live on my cell phone.
Email is the new land line.
I seldom speed, and never get caught when I do.
I pray I never need to use my kick starter...
I like Canadians, but hate hockey.
I'm just an old school Southerner.

What is it here, confession booth?  I'll play.

Cell phone and land line.

Live on email and online, FB included, bilingual and on two continents.

I speed only on motorcycle.

Kickstart only warm bike.

Hockey is big in my country but I never watch any sports, even sports I do myself.

I respect law enforcement in USA ever since I saw state trooper changing a tire on a minivan on Capital Beltway in rain - helping stranded mother.  Compare that to all the cops of my youth that would bully me just because they could.

I am a confused implant who does not know where he belongs anymore.

If I don't know someones name then I refer to them as Sir, Miss or Mrs.
I don't have a new fangled smart phone but I do have a cell phone, as far as I'm concerned it's smart enough.
I also have a landline.
Have an FB account but I don't waste my time playing any of its games.
Check my email MAYBE twice a week.
I break the speed limit as often as I can but on the few occasions I got pulled over I didn't give the cop any BS and got nothing more than a warning ticket.
I've found watching drag racing on TV is almost as boring as watching a baseball game on TV.
If I do watch drag racing I'm going to watch it at the track or be drag racing myself.
If it puts out serious HP then I like it, F1, motogp, nascar, foreign, domestic, sports car or drag car. Can't stand Indy car though.
I wear a cheap digital watch at work but otherwise wear and old Seiko automatic watch.
I tell my wife I love her at least once a day everyday.

I graduated from school
I have a cell, no landline but I rarely use it.  Can't stand people who talk on their cells in the grocery store.
Don't care about whether the bike is kickstarter or electric - prefer electric
Haven't had to talk to a law enforcement officer in at least 20 years, but when I do it will be 'sir' or "ma'am"
hate e-mail and facebook.
Will probably move to Alaska when I retire and poop in that outhouse.

give me a break. i used erasers more than the other end of the pencils when I was a kid, and i think i turned out ok. At least no obvious brain damage.. 8)

I think you miss the point of his article: that mistakes should not be "erased" instead, leave it, then write the correct answer. Erasing the error and over-writing it is pointless as it portends no mistake was made, and that the knowledge was always there. And he's correct, that mistakes are how we learn.

Now, I don't know if we need to ban erasers, because ultimately, computers in the classroom have eliminated pencils nearly anyway, but the point has merit.

Sure wish you'd change this behavior, regardless of which way you cast your ballot. Voting is a really unique privilege, and paid for by our prior generations. Its also part of what separates democracies from plutocracies.

Iamandrewx God yes I vote if you don't shake the creeps up every chance you get you won't get a chance in a while. (we seem to be going through a period of fascism in Canada at the moment and if they can be voted out, it means no armed insurrection) beside it keeps the pollsters off the street.

ehh, it's my personal belief that if the banks and big business want a candidate in office - they will be. no matter what the ballots and votes say... and no party supports the majority of my beliefs so i cannot really bring myself to settle on someone. but i respect and understand what you mean!

This seems like fun, can I join in ?

I have a (cell) portable phone, thankfully now Android and NOT windows. It makes a pleasant "ding" sound when I get new Emails, which I ignore.

I treat all  letters with utmost suspicion, especially if they appear to be from a government agency

When my landline rings, I check the caller identity. If it is witheld I never answer. If it is one of many recognised tele marketing numbers I either don't answer or I do and give them hell.

Christmas is Christmas. I have many friends in Eastern Europe and I join them for their Orthodox feasts, I don't change theirs, they don't change mine.

In France, all salutations are formal, Monsieur ou Madame, vous, untill by agreement you become "familiar"

Facebook is a load of bo**ocks, I mock it

If  I burp or fart  I always apologise after, especially in bed.

I cannot understand hockey but I do Gaelic football and hurling.

Motorcycles that have kickers or do not are both welcome in my garage (esp TZ Yamahas or CR93 Honda)

My car is such a POS I would never want to work on it. Ever. (It is a Peugeot after all)

I like coppers. They do a job that very few of us could do. Normally if I have been a bit disobediant, they see my bountiful grey hair and pleasant demeanour and send me on my way with a bit of finger wagging.

I hate speed cameras, they are so undiscerning.

I am beginning to both look and live like Gene Hackman in "Enemy of the State"

The latter point does not displease me at all. In fact my son is on the same wavelength.

Kev

I bought a smart phone three years ago with the intention of dragging myself into the technological age - I still don't know how to use it, other than take and make calls, and I have decided that's good enough for me.

I have a general dislike of policemen, having been treated poorly by them on more than one occasion. I do however expect them to be there when I need them. Sometimes I think about this and feel bad, generally I don't think about it at all.

I always vote, I believe that if you don't exercise your right to vote, you have no right to complain when you take a hit from whoever is in power.

Being addressed as 'Sir' or Mr' makes me cringe (and reminds me of previous encounters with aforementioned police officers) and I prefer to be called by my first name, if others wish me to address them as 'Sir' or 'Mr' they can fck off.

I hate political correctness, and I hate people who teach their kids to call their parents by their first name - Dad, Pops, whatever but not first names.

I hate people who have double standards. And no, the irony does not escape me.

I would like to invite the creator of Facebook round for dinner, so I could stick forks in his eyes.

Kick or electric or both, but they must all have carbs.
