1976 Super Sport Honda CB750F build
« on: May 25, 2015, 09:16:39 pm »
Hello first time posting to sohc4.net, and I just wanted to share the status of the current bike I purchased.  Here are some pictures I took while purchasing, and the early stages of disassembly.

I'm in the middle of doing one of a CB750 F1 restoration at the moment, trying to keep it original with a few modern improvements (tyres, shocks, K&N filters).  What are your plans for it - restore to original / cafe / something else?

I'll probably go the cafe route.

At first, I though that bike had 61 miles on it. Then I realized that the picture is upside down.

I'm in North Fort Worth/Keller, and I have a 750F model.

Does the engine run? That's a good starting point.  :D

I recommend saving the old harness, even if it's corroded and crusty.
It will help down the road if you need a spare connector or something.

I don't like the looks of that left side down tube! Is that rusted through?

I don't think so, it's just some surface rust as far as I can tell.

It could be caked on grease.  Hard to tell from the photo.  Make sure you if it IS rust that you get down to bare metal and repair any compromised metal, and then hit it with a rust inhibitor before painting or powdercoating.
