My steering lock painted/powdered shut?!
« on: May 27, 2015, 05:02:11 AM »
Anyone else find this and then open it up to find it useful?

My keys are different numbers... which number would have originally gone with the steering lock? Seat lock? Ignition?

Rhonda was a basket case, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was covered because the original ignition key was lost...

Usually there is a little plate that slides over and you insert the key. Originally one key would do seat , ignition and steering lock.

That plate is what I think has been painted over. I can see the tabs in the first pic that would stop if from sliding all the way in a circle. Good to know I can use the same key for the seat/steering lock.

I tried the steering lock on a 750 once and the locking pin went up alright but I had to fiddle a lot to get it to come back down.  At the minimum try to work some lube in before you try it out.
