Another night of wrenching, grinding and welding...

Front engine supports are temporarily fitted to fix the definite fit of the engine in the frame. Next thing is to weld the rear support further and make the lower engine supports by welding 2 extra fixation points onto the frame.

Since we now found the good position for the engine I think we can say it's a snug but good fit. It sits slightly higher (good for ground clearance)  ::) and a little backwards...

I'll keep u posted...

That's some work and a significant offset. I hope the new position will not have any detrimental effect in front/rear weight bias, COG and handling.

Thats what i was thinking, I would have mounted the engine further forward and played with the rear mounts....

I know but we've tried mounting it further forward but it's not possible. The cranck case it much wider at the front right hand side of the engine so it collides with the frame. Therefore it's impossible to mount it further forward. We'll see how CG and weight distribution are at the end. Eventually the bike will sit a lot more on the front since we'll raise the rear from original and some extra weight on the front from oil cooler, bigger exhaust and tank etc... will help too.
And at the rear we're trimming most of the weight by removing almost all of the original stuff on the bike. That might bring the weight front /rear close to original? In the end we're on the same axis with the rear mount.
As for handling, together with the weight bias, it should be good since we're putting excel alloy rims, GSXR front end, IKON rear schocks.
Obviously it will be a job to set up the bike's sag etc right.
Time will tell...

It will be a challenge but you've been ambitious from the beginning and your eyes are open to the issues. Keep at it and good luck.
