It most likely was changed at some point, only the '76 came with brown from the factory.
I'm restoring a '76 and need a seat if you want to sell?

I will be replacing or repairing the torn cover. Thanks for your response, I will be keeping the seat.

I've had pretty good luck replacing worn seat covers, it's pretty basic.

I'll prolly be buying this one for mine...

My first 550F was a 75 and came with the brown seat. I sold it for 100 bucks back in the day. What an idiot I was.
