 ;D Classic.

Stopped at a trafficlight the other day while riding my cb550. I was riding with my girfriend, but she was behind me because i ran an orange light before.
A Harley pulled up beside me on the right, one of those smaller ones. A motocross bike pull up on my left, and they were revving their engines hinting at a race as soon as the light turnes green. I'm new to the cb550, and the clutch is misbehaving, but willing to give it a try.
Now just before the light jumped to green, my girl aproaches the trafficlight from behind us. Since she was lagging behind, and anticipated the light would turn to green soon, she keeps her speed up a bit as the road in fron of her is empty anyway.
Me and the other 2 guys go full trottle as soon as the light turns green. The guy on motocross bike was only slightly ahead of us while I was getting ready to shift to second, but at that point my girl passes all 3 off us (swerving to the other side of the road and just missing an oncoming car), going at least 20 mph faster than any of us.
Since none of has had looked in our mirrors, we had our eyes fixed on the green light only, we didn't see her coming from the back at speed. We all thought she stood behind us at the trafficlight.

She only told me later that she approached the lights at a decent speed. The guy on the motocross bike was so ashamed to get passed by a girl, that he had to perform a wheely at the next light to impress us.  :D

I was involved, but it didn't actually happen to me.

I used to be a riding instructor and in one class there was a charming older gal who found the whole learning process a bit of a challenge. It took her several attempts to get to the point where she could comfortably control the bike and focus on all the stuff that was going on around her in traffic.

Anyway we were out on a group training ride, with her leading. Everything was going fine until we got to an intersection controlled by lights, which changed to red just as we got there. As the leader she did a perfect braking job, along with flawless downshifts to first. She was so pleased with herself that she turned her head around to give me (riding at the back) a great big toothy "look at me, I finally got it" smile. She was still smiling as she gracefully toppled sideways to the ground, having forgotten to put her foot down to hold everything up! No harm done to her or the bike, except for a slightly bent ego.

How about this one:-

Friday night at the house of liquid meriment ant the owner of the Yamaha XT500 sez it wont wheelie.
COURSE IT WILL sez me give it ere.
10 Yards down the pavement (where pedestrians walf over here) and i pull in the clutch rev it a bit and pop the lever--instant front wheel 3 feet in the air, suddenly realise that i am aiming for the situpon bench so I put the front brake on--Strange I think, this aint slowing down! OH #$%* the front wheel aint on the ground! Let off throttle front wheel lands WITH THE BRAKE LOCKED ON. Lying on ground trying to convince the owner that its all OK cos his blinkers are rubber mouted and nothing is bent HONEST

Now I have always been and always will be a two-wheeled kind of guy.  Many years ago at a track in Panama City Beach, FL I rode a three-wheeler for the first and last time.  The thing stalled on a berm and biker instinct told me to put my left leg down and gas it.  It promptly spun knobby tires up the back of my left leg which then caused the contraption to tilt right.  You guessed it.  Knobby tires spinning up the back of my right leg.

Looking like I had been run over by a tractor, I turned that stupid thing in after one lap.  Stupid three-wheelers!!  Bikes have two-wheels.

This is the last place I should share this embarrassing story but here it goes anyway.

I was in 8th grade at the time.  My good friend had a birthday party and I made a pig out of myself eating all kinds of junk and about half of a watermelon.  Later that afternoon, we rode our mini-bikes down to the local swimming hole.  I jumped off of a few rocks and did the rope swing when all of a sudden my stomach began to rumble and my ass cheeks puckered.  I knew right away that I was in for a real #$%* storm.  I ran up the bank, jumped on my bike and sped for home.  The ride was bumpy… too bumpy… and against my will, the storm came in before I made it home.  It was a disaster… I was covered in mud… my mud.
My father was in the yard when I arrived, he giggled the whole time as he turned the garden hose on me.  We still laugh about it… him more than me.

Just yesterday I remounted after a quick pit stop. I was checking out the cute blonde over at the gas pumps. I kick start the bike, the kick starter gets caught in my pant leg and I start to topple over. I caught it at the last second, but I'm sure I was looking real cool.  ::) I didn't look to see if she was laughing or not.  ;D

never crapped my pants, or got stuck in a rut, ran it up a tree, or tried to wheelie while drunk....countless little embarrassments though.

--when it was first running, took it to the beer store as a test run.  came out and it wouldn't start, though it wasn't a fuse or anything obvious.....after pushing it 3 blocks, realized that the kill switch was off....this has happened a few times since.
--several instances of trying to make a left turn out of a parking lot with the kick stand down.
--now that i don't have a kickstand, and use the center stand all the time, i've shifted into first reved and let out the clutch only to realize i was still on the center stand.
--cruising through royal oak, slowed down to check out some triumphs, then noticed the car in front of me had stopped.  had to stop short and forgot i was in third, then though i had it gotten it down to first, but it was in neutral....triumph guys not impressed with my stalling followed shortly by over revving, followed by me just getting the hell out of royal oak.

oh, that is a funny one.  forgot about that....though how'd you know?

so last spring, i tore into honda II, hell bent on making it work.  first i got it running--sort of--then spent some time tracking down some electrical problems.  finally one nice sunny afternoon, i was in the garage, thinking i was about done.  had the door half down to create a little shade so i could see spark better.  spark on 1 and 4....spark on 2 and 3.  threw the plugs back in and sure enough she fired up on all four for the first time since i put her in the garage.

dropped my wrench and took off full speed to the house to gear up for the first ride and immediately smacked my head on the garage door.  had to sit down for a few.

Those are some funny stories, thanks for sharing.  Seems women account for a fair share of the problems, but they weren't driving!  LOL

I took a riders class at the local Harley dealership (Yea I know, whatever.  It's Milwaukee) and there was this guy riding by at about 45 mph on an Ultra Classic waving at us.  He is flying down this hill and there is a traffic light at the bottom of the hill.  Well the light turned red just as he looked back to the road.  He slammed on his breaks, the rear tire swings around so that he is sliding sideways.  He was going too fast to stop in time, there was a lot of cross traffic and we all knew he was going to bite it.  He must have let off the rear break because just as he entered the intersection he straitened out.  There was a mini van that I swear must have missed him by less then an inch or so.  From our angle it looked like he was hit, but he kept on riding.

The instructor looked over at us and said he did something terribly wrong and something absolutely great, what was it?  He wasn't paying attention to the road, but he kept control of the bike while #$%*ting himself.  ;D

Sparty, I'm still laughing about your run(s) home ;)

Mine, mebbe not as funny, involved wildlife, although nothing as deadly as bears.  I was riding by a cornfield when a robin darted out ahead of me.  Being of suicidal nature, the robin turned up the road ahead of me, instead of simply flying across the road in front of me.  I reached for the brakes, and I swear she was looking over her shoulder and flapping her wings as fast as they would go -- like in the cartoons.  She hit hard on my left shoulder, but all I saw was a burst of feathers passing my helmet.

I stopped to check on the robin because I would hate to leave a wounded animal by the road.  She was lying in the middle of the road, alive, but not moving.  I gave a pull on her wings -- nothing.  I was trying to decide whether to club her, so I tossed her up in the air (Fly! Be free robin!).  But she flopped back on the ground.  I tossed her up in the air again (remember I am doing this out of "mercy").  She flopped to the ground, but this time, she'd had enough and flew away.

This summer I had one. No one saw it so I could have denied forever but I'll tell you guys anyways.
I was out cleaning and adjusting my chain, well I got done and it was getting dark so I headed in. Next day I rode to work and parked. Went to leave work and I noticed something on my bike that should not be there ??? It was shiny whatever it was and long.
I got closer and saw it was my 22 or 24mm wrench that I used to tighten my axle nut! It had stayed on for over 5 miles of interstate and in town driving and the open end was still firmly seated on the nut! :o

It could have been bad if the wrench had come off and gone into the wheel but I was lucky that it did not happen and that no one saw me!

I took a 1/2 day's vacation one sunny afternoon to go ride the bike and after hurriedly running into the house and changing clothes, I hurred back out to the garage.  The bike is cold blooded and it died on me about 2 or 3 times in a row.  After getting it going reliably, I took my hand off of the throttle to fiddle with my helmet and the dern thing died again.  Since the electric start doesn't work, I went to set the bike on the side stand to kick it again and forgot that I had put the damn thing up.  The bike and I with it went over to the left and I caught it before it fell.  Now I am in a wrestling match with a 500 lb. bike and it's starting to kick my ass at about 3/4 way to the ground.   I make a quick move to pick it up using both legs and both arms and I finally get it upright.

What's the first thing that I do after setting it up?  I look around to see if anyone else has seen my moment of stooopidity.   ;D

This one is my neighbor's, but it is classic.  He is a fairly rough looking rider with a beard, tattoos, earrings, doorags etc.  He left a bar in downtown Atlanta a little inebriated and pulls up to the 1st red light.  He looks over and grins at the elderly couple in the car next to him and promptly falls over.  He never took his feet off of the pegs!

my dad had his before even owned a bike....well, he had a honda 50 back before i was born, but recently got back into it.  so he's in the showroom--you see where this is going--checking out a shadow 750.  he'd checked it out a couple of times and was sitting on it.  decided to kick the sidestand up so he could get a feel for it.  swings it back and forth a couple of times then centers it and just sits there deciding what he thinks.

after a minute or so, gets off and promptly drops it to the ground right in the middle of the showroom....having never put the sidestand back down.  my mom was off looking at helmets or something and said she heard the crash and didn't dare look....she already knew.

ya think?  my mom called and told me about it that day...she had to sneak off to the store to make the call and threatened to "twist my nose" if if told him she did.

it took him about 2 weeks to bring it up to me.

Didn't happen to me, but it was fun to watch.  After I graduated from college, I moved back to Denver, my hometown.  It was a couple of years after Coors Field had been built, and lower downtown - around the stadium - had changed from industrial warehouses to lofts and brew pubs.  These venues, and I'm not knocking brew pubs, attracted a certain yuppie clientele.  One night, some friends and I were out and about, and decided to swing into one of these downtown bars called the Giggling Grizzly.  I can't defend our choice - but there were always good looking women in these bars.

We get out of our cars, and are walking across the parking lot, when we see two mid-thirties stock-broker types - perfect hair, capped teeth, spotless leather jackets, etc. sitting on a pair of Harleys that looked like they just rolled of the showroom floor.  At the same time, a gaggle of absolutely gorgeous women in tight shirts and short skirts catch the eye of the stock brokers, who fire up their bikes and start revving the engines to show off the super-loud exhausts.  The women stop to watch these two examples of supreme manhood, who are eating it up, revving, flexing, etc.

Well - these knuckleheads had parked side-by-side, nose-in, in a single parking space, and there are cars parked on both sides and in front of them, so the only way to get the bikes out is to back them up as there is no room to turn around.  Unfortunately for them, there was a dip in the parking spot, about 4" deep and 3' wide, and both had parked so their back tires were sitting in the dip.  Still revving and preening, they attempt to back their bikes up, pushing with both feet, and the bikes won't budge.  We're stopped watching, the beautiful women are watching, and the manhood of these fellow is in question, so they try even harder to back their bikes out.  Their faces are red and contorted, and they are rocking the bikes back and forth, but they cannot get these enormous beasts out of the rut.  The girls start laughing and walk off.  One of the guys calls them '#$%*es.'  By the time we tore ourselves away from the spectacle, they are both off the bikes trying to move one bike out, one guy in front pushing and the other in back pulling, and semblance of manhood totally gone.

Kick start while in gear, and the engine starts. I hung on for dear life.
