Found a 78 cb550
« on: May 30, 2015, 08:54:43 AM »
Whoa scored another cb550
This one's a 78. Went to look at it guy was asking 600$.
Got there and plugs were out . Not good. Said on the phone he "though the bike had low compression." Figured it was worth a look. Got there and engine was stuck. Looked in spark plug holes and full of river water! Ah!!!!! Price dropped to 175$ then. Looks nice and complete. Got home rocked it in 5th and was free in like 1 minute!!!. Kicked the spluooge  out. And hooked up battery. Went to hook up Auxiliary tank and low and behold fresh gas came out the petcock. Looked in tank and spanking clean and had fresh gas!! Unbelievable
Though to myself....nnah it can't start right up ....ddressed points and it did !!!!!   Sounds great , good compression!
Unreal.  Looked under seat after removing lock nuts as the key was missing and boom!! Fresh owners Manual and temp registration from 77!

Gotta hunt a battery side cover and source a key clean out the caliper and I think she'll make the block a few laps.

Think that should match the ignition  or are they seperate keys. I have seen both ways.

Would have matched from the factory.  I need a key for my 550F [same switch as yours] the number on it isnt a key number.

I'm sure you know about hondakeys.com...

http://www.hondakeys.com/key_id.html

Yours would be a P1...........
