Source for 1.00mm over CB550 rings?
« on: May 29, 2015, 05:21:27 AM »
A while back, I bought some Yoshimura high compression pistons. The guy I bough them from told me they were .50 over and used Honda rings. I sourced a set of genuine Honda rings and now that the pistons and cylinders are back from the machine shop, it turns out that they're actually 1.00 mm over!

Where can I find 1.00 mm over rings?

I'm gonna call this guy later today and see if he sells just the rings. Any other leads?

Could the Dynoman 60mm rings be filed to fit? Down to 59.5mm?

 Those are 61.5. I need 59.5.
I talked to a local machinist today and he told me to call Total Seal. Said they're really good about having just about anything you can think of. I'll get the measurements and give them a ring.

Scott,

PM me if you have any success with Total Seal.
I'd like a set too.

Thanks

Scott is there a picture of those 59.5's? Are the domes like Jimmy's?

You can clearly see the 0.50 on the piston, but my mechanic SWEARS they're 1.00mm over. Even the guy that machined the cylinders said that he thought something was funky when he was taking measurements and doing the math.

 They're very light, too.
