77-78 cb750F wheel assembly question
« on: May 31, 2015, 05:46:41 PM »
After looking at a couple rear wheel diagrams for the 77-78 cb750 F there seems to be a slight difference that has me puzzled.  I am trying to reinstall my bearings/seals etc. One diagram shows what appears to be a bearing retainer labeled (#5) on diagram on the sprocket side and another diagram shows no (#5) retainer on the sprocket side but shows it on the other side of the wheel.  Unless there is a difference between the 77 and 78 model years. Looking over the diagrams it appears that the 78 had this (#5) retainer on the sprocket side while the 77 has no retainer on the sprocket side but on the other side.  Is one of the diagrams wrong or is it just a slight difference on account of the year? The first picture is the 77 diagram and the second picture is the 78. Third picture diagram is labeled 77 and shows the (#5) retainer on the disk brake side. Looking for some direction thanks in advance.

Only one side of the hub will be threaded for this retainer. Put the retainer on that side of the hub...  ;)

My money is on the brake side.  8)
