Topic: Starter Switch Assembly Swap MISTAKE!

I'm replacing the right starter switch assembly on my 75 CB750F Super Sport. This is what I should have received, notice the wire ends.



I accidently got this:



Notice how the white housing at the end of the wires is different? I removed that (thinking it was no biggie) and ended up with this:



I figured i could get adapters for the square-ish ends to make them into the male pieces i need to fit the loom. Will the switch from a 77 be identical to that of a 75 in all manner EXCEPT the white adapter? Or would i be safer just ordering the one i originally should have. Electricity scares me.

Why should you have received that first one?

Our 75 CB750F did NOT come with an on/off switch. Wish they did but they did not. That might have helped when the voltage drops due to an undercharging electrical system so you could turn off the headlight without removing a fuse.

The second one is 'more' correct except for the connector. I say get in touch with VintageConnections.com and get a bullet connector kit and replace the spades if the wiring is correct length. Since you'd have the kit you could also replace other 40 year old corroded or loose connectors too and keep the charging system happy.

The on/off switch one is listed as the only one they currently have that will for sure work with the 75 cb750f, though they note the original 75 cb750f did not have an on/off switch.

I replaced the loom the same day. Everything on the loom side is new. If the on/off switch is useful then I'd rather just use that one without modifying the 77 one that came.

Sound like a plan? Might pick up one of those kits anyone, though.

I don't know - the bike has been a project and started as more or less a bathtub full of parts. This is my first honda motorcycle.

its the one labeled Part #: 24-4012

It matched the original harness exactly. I don't know if the switch would be functional. The only wiring diagram we have was scanned with a potato.
