You were certainly in the right place at the right time for that compressor;that could run a decent size service dept.  8) Nice job on the wheels.
Nice score on the compressor. Looking forward to seeing the wheels.

I was able to get one side of one wheel finished polished today.  I can't wait to start investing in some decent tools now that I have a compressor that will run them.  If I put more than just a touch of pressure on the die grinder I am using it bogs down which makes it take longer than it should to get the desired result.  There is little to no torque on that thing.

Pretty nice!  All that money saved on the compressor can be invested in the good airtools...wish it were that easy...
That theory only works if you had that cash sitting ready to buy the more expensive compressor...something else always finds a way...

I wish it were that easy as well.

I have been trying to buy a new angle die grinder for the past couple of days, but everywhere local that shows they have some in stock ends up not having any.  Not sure how your system says you have three or four in stock, but there are actually zero.  Supposedly my local Northern Tool is supposed to get a shipment in today.  That shipment is supposed to contain two of the grinder I am looking for.  Hopefully I will be able to pick one up tomorrow.  Regardless I am stopping on my way home from work today to see if they will put aside or hold one for me as a precaution.

That's the 'non stocking dealer' thing..  ::) They wait for folks to Really want them Now before they order them.. I would sure like if they would just say they don't have them but will order them Right Now;would be more honest.

Well finally got a new angle die grinder so I was able to finish up the polishing of the wheels.  Thankfully that is done.  Afterwards I installed the bearings.  Also cleaned the wheel end caps and removed the paint from them.  Took care of a number of other little things.  They moved my daughter to day shift so it is harder for her to do any personal projects.  I am hopeful we can slip in next Friday evening and get everything powder coated.  I am getting real close to being at a stopping point until I can get the powder coating done.

Tubes and tires have been ordered and received.  Shocks and levers (brake/clutch) have been ordered.  Now I am back to fighting myself with the electrical.  The housings on the SV controls aren't as nice other set I have.  I believe the other set is from a GSXR, but which one?  They look identical to the 2004/2005 GSXR600/750, but the wiring schematic doesn't match up to the wires at the connectors.  After a lot of looking and comparing wiring schematics and some help from a GSXR forum I think I figured it out.  There was an undocumented change in 2005 to the 600/750's.  The right switch has two extra wires and the starter button changed from a SPST to a DPDT.  One of the extra wires connects to the left switch kill power to the headlight during cranking.

I need to semi assemble the bike to see what cables I need to order.  With the clip-ons I don't know if the stock cable lengths will work or not.  Typically the cables would be a bit long, but since I am mounting the clip-ons differently than normal I am not sure.  I don't want a lot of extra cable hanging out.

I had what I hope is a great thought last night.  Knowing what a pain it is to get the rear stand under the swingarm on my CB in order to do any maintenance I thought why not use the lower bolt where the shocks attach to the swingarm.  I could put a spool there and secure it with a longer bolt.  Vortex makes a spool that uses a 10mm bolt (which is what the shocks use to attach to the swingarm) that has a bit of a standoff and isn't unsightly that should work.

Wheels look great, very nice job with the polishing.
No stainless bolt in shock mount as they are weaker than a zinc plated.  Will you need standoffs in addition to the spools to clear the exhaust?
Have you seen the cb100-175 scheme with two tone paint scheme?
Saw a few with the metal wing medallion and Honda badge lower on the tank...it looked good.  They typically had white with bike's color as the two tone on tank.
It is good you can use the ovens and spray gear for the powder...that should help the bike budget nicely.
How's the baby doing?

How many more bikes you building for family...your, wife's, now daughter's..., next?

Bet you are itching for the coming better weather...we are suppose to see 77F today! It was 72F yesterday.  Bugs will be bad here and the fruit crops are likely to get killed by hard freeze or frost as apple trees are already starting to bud and daffodils are blooming.  In FEBRUARY!

Look forward to more and glad you were able to figure out the controls.

The spools have a little bit of a standoff to them, but if I need more I can always add a spacer.  I don't think my exhaust will be that long so I should be good.  I still have to see if my stand will reach up high enough to get to the bolts though.

I have seen the two tone paint jobs.  They are OK, just not my style.

Baby?  Do you know something I don't?  My baby making days have been snipped for a bit over 16 years now.

I do have a 16 year old boy, but he is an intellectual and has absolutely zero desire to ride.  Hell he doesn't even want to drive.  He has his permit, but hasn't spent one minute behind the wheel of a car.  It works for me since it keeps my insurance lower.  He doesn't play sports, which kills me since I do/did and want to do some of that with him.  He does play the violin in school and in a traveling orchestra that gets paid when they do gigs.  He taught himself how to play the piano and guitar.  The only instruments I play are the air drums and air guitar, but I rock the hell out of those.

Yah I am getting to the point where I can start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.  It is amazing how hard it is to find a decent set of headlight brackets that will fit 33mm forks that aren't ridiculously expensive.  I kind of like the Ceriani replicas, but also like a few styles that speedmotoco have on their site.  I prefer the brushed or polished over the black though.

Harsh,

Those wheels look almost too good to powercoat.  Maybe just a clear pc?

I am not powder coating the wheels.  The spokes were painted and the lips were polished.  I was referring about powder coating the frame and a few other bits.

Ha..no worries.

Going to try and rig up a blast booth to go over the frame to clean it up a little bit after the welding and grinding.

Built a half ass enclosure so I could do a final blast to the frame.  It worked fairly well.  I had to sweep up the blast media 4 times and probably lost about 10 percent each time.  Now all I need to do is wipe it down and tape off what I don't want powder coat on.

It is about the little things.  My levers arrived today so I promptly put them on their respective mounts.

I found that when that's installed on the Honda perch, even on the closest settings, it's FARTHER than stock.

I received some good news yesterday.  The guy on DTT sent me a picture of what he has done to the tank logos.  They are going to look stunning.  I would post the pic, but I want to build up some suspense.

Unfortunately things have been moving very slowly.  With my daughter now working the day shift she can't do any personal projects on the side.  As such the powder coating has been put on hold.  The dicktards that work on the mid shift refuse to do us a favor no matter how much beer I offer them.  They don't want to do any extra work if they don't have to.  They only work a couple of hours a night and then sit there and play stupid games on their phone or scroll through facebook until the day shift comes in.

So Sunday I am meeting a guy to have it done for me.  I showed him a pic of all of the parts, let him know the blasting and taping has been done and the powder has already been purchased.  He gave me a guestimate price until he can see everything.  For some reason my area is expensive to have things powder coated.  I hear how much others pay across the country to have it done and it seems to be about half of what I get charged where I live.  Especially considering that I have done the vast majority of the prep work.

Thanks for the offer Cal, but I don't think I will need to take you up on it.  I met with the guy today and after he saw the work that has been done he gave me a decent deal and said that if the final prep work takes less time he would even drop the price a bit.
This is the lot of parts I dropped off with him today.  I should hopefully have them back by next weekend.

You going to have all those parts PC'd gloss black as a lot ? if so that shouldn't be bad as that's a very common color that PC dudes spray a lot of.

Looks like you left the lower shock mount rubbers in. I don't think they'll survive the pc oven too well.

They are going to be RAL 1015 light ivory.

I did and they have survived just fine in my previous builds with absolutely zero issues.  However, I always worry about them.  The guy doing the PC also asked about them.  The rubber mounts on the engine hangers are unobtanium.
