This is her first bike, but she is signing up to take the MSF course and will use one of their bikes for the class.  After that she and I will slowly work on getting her going.  Yah I do things backwards.  Build something nice then teach a person how to ride it.

Hopefully, you have something less nice for her to practice on. Almost every newbie accidentally tips over their first bike.  This one seems to nice for that kind of exposure.

I am looking for a small beater bike.  Something I don't really care if it gets dropped and can stay outside since I have run out of room in the garage.

Well I am back from my trip to the mountains.  I would like to report that the bike ran great, but that just wasn't the case.  The mid range was horrible.  It would spit and sputter like it wasn't getting fuel.  Not sure at what RPM level it would start, but it would run crappy up to 7,000 rpm.  After I rolled past that it was like the bike came alive and would race to redline and run very smoothly.  So it looks like I need to get back into the carbs.  I need to find the diagram of what jets do what and at what rpm/throttle position.  I re-used the brass when I rebuilt them, but used new oem O-rings.  Because of the stumbling I couldn't get into and through the corners as I would have liked so my pictures are kind of boring.  A friend of mine did take this sweet picture for me though.

Well, I see this is going to be nominated for BOTM,  had I known the weekend I would have came down to meet you and shake your hand...  Guess I should have asked.

Bike is gorgeous!  You did fantastic work Harsh.  Daughter should be tickled pink as I am sure she is.  Hope she gave you a hug hug and big kiss on the cheek.

Time to buy a box of plugs and do a bunch of plug shops or spend some money on the dyno.  The later works really well as they can read the AF mix to get it dialled in, provided they are good at their craft.

Look forward to hearing a good report. Is it quiet enough?  Most go with the short cones and I like the sleeper approach as the longer cones have a nice report/sound when opened up, just not as gutteral and low as the short cones.

I was thinking the same.  There's no technical limit to the number of candidates but there are already FOUR in the running (Scott S, flatlander, Frode2 and greenjeans) for July BOTM.  When you get a larger number of bikes, a winning bike doesn't need too many votes.

Trust me when I say I am humbled that you guys think this is nomination worthy of BOTM, but did something change in the rules?  This is only a 2 cylinder bike.  However, I guess one could skirt by rule #7 since it does have 4 valves.

Bummer!  I had a lapse into thinking it was a 350F.  Unfortunately, it is ineligible for nomination.

Yeah, those MSF trainers are awesome.  I think mine was a custom in the making - it had a sweet knee dent on the left side of the tank and I'm sure the builder was going to do the right side soon... 

On a serious note, great bike.  I really like how it turned out.  My 12YO is already eyeing up my restored 550 wondering how old she needs to be.  I think a project like this would be a much better starter.

Ordered some rebuild kits for the carbs to hopefully fix my running issues.  I went with all new brass pieces vice just cleaning the old stuff and replacing the o-rings like I did previously.  Get everything back together and the bike wouldn't fire up.  I had zero spark on both cylinders.  So I Pulled the tank to check the wiring to see if I accidentally disconnected something while I was fiddling around.  All wiring had good and solid connections.  Power was where it was supposed to be and grounds were perfect, yet I was getting zero spark.  So I swapped in the wife's electronic ignition and the bike fires right up.  So it looks like I get to play the warranty game with the manufacturer.  People have had issues with him before and I suspect I will too.  My issue is that I purchased it more than a year ago even though it wasn't used until a couple of months ago and I can prove that via my build threads.

Now I wonder if it was the ignition that was causing the running issues the entire time and not the carbs.

This makes me miss my 360. and yeah - your issues probably were because of your E ignition (I ran mine on points and any issues always seemed to be directly related to the points).

Yah I know you don't like PAMCO's.  This is the first issue I have had with them.  I am hoping Pete will do the right thing, however I have my reservations.

Pete shipped out a replacement unit today.  Should be here by the end of the week so hopefully I can get it installed, set, and running by this weekend.

I need to figure out something to do with my garage though. I have a 1980 CB750 in there that needs some work and I am looking at buying a new bike within the next couple of weeks. Hopefully I can find a Triumph Tiger that I like. 7 bikes in a one car garage that also houses all of my tools is going to be a damn near impossible squeeze.

Cal...when I wrote him I informed him of the troubleshooting steps I had taken.  Which were nothing more than checking the connections, voltages, and grounds and that everything was 100%.  I let him know that I swapped over the PAMCO unit from my wife's bike and that this bike fired right up.  He replied asking me for my address and the next day I received another reply with a tracking number.

So, how did your photo stack up in the end on the Dragon voting...

I got walloped.  I think I ended up with something near 750 votes and the winner was close to 1400.  The next closest was somewhere around 250 votes.  The kid that won was a friend of the kid that killed himself and his passenger the week prior when he drove his car off the side of the mountain.  Still not sure how benefitting from someone's death is a good thing, but it is what it is.  Rossi could have had his picture taken with a completely naked Meghan Markle on the back of his bike and still would have lost, so I guess I don't feel too bad about it.
