« on: October 20, 2006, 07:46:40 AM »
Hi there you lot, just logged in so please bare with me!!!

I am present searching for a bike to turn into the sort of cafe racer found on ohio cafe racers (see 350rr) it will be for street use mainly with a possibility of track days. My question is do i go for the 400/4 or the 350/4 or something else, i would like hi comp pistons, polished n ported heads etc etc and i'm basically looking for any advice i can get. Also looking at more modern upside down front end as on the 350rr any advice on what i can fit straight on albiet with the head spindle swap maybe???????

Sorry its lots to ask for, but hey if you dont ask...........
Many many thanks in advance

400 no question.

sexy HP adding headers, and an extra gear.
you can make it light with no effort at all.

There have been a few discussions about this in the past few weeks.

These two threads break it down pretty good:

Greg's bike is a 350 twin, which is actually a better choice if you're looking for hi-performance parts.  Lots of guys race those in the vintage classes.

How about general availability in North America? I don't think I have ever seen a 350 on the road here in BC, and only a very few 400's.

The biggest problem I can forsee with the 350f is an lack of available seats.
