1976 cb750f super sport restoration
« on: June 05, 2015, 12:58:15 PM »
Hello to all. My father purchased his 1976 cb750f super sport brand new in 76. as he got older and health declined it was parked. It has sat in the garage for just about 20 years now. ive put some money aside and have decided to take on the project of restoring it. i have fun memories of riding on it when i was young and i know he would get great joy out of seeing it on the road once again. Ill be sure to post lots of pictures as the project comes along and hope everyone enjoys seeing it. I will be restoring it to stock as ive seen these bikes are becoming harder and harder to find in original condition. the first major issue is the gas tank. it sat with about 2 inches of gas in the tank and it rusted and corroded terribly. i have looked online and locally and have not had any luck finding a super sport tank, so i have decided to dive in and repair the original one. i have cut and removed all the bad metal from the tank and will start to weld in new patches. ive have been doing some research and it looks like i will be using the POR-15 tank seal kit. does anyone have any experience with this product. ive have used some of there products before with great results and im hoping for the same with this.

And I've been working on mine since 4/75  ;) Let me know if I can provide any info. I'm WELL versed on the 75/76 F.  ;D

Doing another 75 F right now too. It's not gonna be a restore like my original but rather a 1000cc hot rod.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Here is a couple pics of the metal work I'm starting on the tank.
